9 Ways Blogging Leads to More Traffic, Leads and Sales

blog-92132_640Thanks to guest blogger, Michelle Shaeffer. On September 25th, Michelle was my featured guest on the Marketing Blab. Feel free to watch the replay of our interview, but in the meantime, enjoy these blogging tips from Michelle.

Would you like to get more traffic to your blog, more leads on your list, and more sales in your business?

Here are 9 ways to make that happen:

1. Know your audience

Who are you writing your blog posts for? What are their motivations, desires, dreams and goals? What are their challenges, pains, and frustrations?

2. Answer questions and solve problems

Every post you publish must deliver value for your readers. Why should they read your post? Have you answered a question or solved a problem?

3. Create and follow a promotional plan

After you publish each new post, follow a promotional plan to get the word out about your new post and attract readers. Also consider what else you can do to promote your blog such as guest blogging, sharing YouTube videos that link to your blog, being interviewed as a guest on podcasts or other websites…

Click here for a step by step guide of what to do after you hit “publish” to get more readers to your blog post.

4. Blog frequently and consistently

Commit to a blogging schedule and make it a consistent habit.

5. Share your blog posts with your list

Each time you publish a new post, mail the link out to your list of subscribers.

6. Respond to all your comments

Create a conversation with your readers. Reply to their comments. Click through to visit their blogs and leave comments in return.

7. Include an opt-in on every page

Every post and every page should have an invitation that leads readers to get on your list. You can do this with a tool like Hello Bar (at the top of your page), an opt-in box widget in your sidebar, a popup, or a call to action at the end of your blog posts.

8. Always include a call to action

What’s the action you want your readers to take after reading your blog post? Be sure to end your post with a “call to action” where you let them know.

9. Stay in touch and follow up

As you use your blog to build your list of subscribers, stay in touch with them and follow up. Invite them back to your blog, to webcasts or calls, and to work with you.

These 9 simple steps will make a huge difference in your blogging results. Implement and watch your traffic, leads and sales grow!

Which of these are you doing already? Which are you working on? Leave a comment below because I’d love to hear from you.
