Last month I posted a blog entitled “Did you make someone happy today?” It was a TED talk video where design critic Don Norman discussed 3 emotional cues that a well-designed product must hit to succeed in business. And, the focus was on making customers happy.
Today I learned from blogging colleague Diana Lesire Brandmeyer that it’s World Smile Day, so what better time to focus on happiness again?
On this day, in Worcester, Mass., a group of “Smile Ambassadors” deliver hundreds of “You’ve Been Smiled” Certificates to individuals and businesses in their area. Want to let someone know they’ve brought a smile to your face, but you’re not in Worcester, Mass.? No problem. Send them a certificate by clicking here. I just sent one to a friend who has been battling cancer.
I’m traveling today so I’m going to wear my smiley pin and be sure I let others know when they’ve made me happy. And, I’ll see what I can do to make them smile today.
What will you do today to bring a smile to someone’s face? It can be as simple as saying “thank you” or telling a good joke. Or, it can be something grand like surprising your partner with a candlelit dinner or sending flowers to someone for no particular reason (other than to make them smile).
Remember, when you smile, the world smiles with you. Please share your random act of kindness here. I’d love to hear from you. Thanks and have a great day. 🙂
